Antenatal care is the care to women throughout their pregnancy. Proper antenatal care also plays important role in preparing a woman for delivery by increasing her confidence physically, mentally and emotionally. It also supports in normal healthy delivery.

In Ayurveda it is referred to as Garbhini Paricharya. Ayurveda gives detailed description of month wise care to be given during pregnancy. Charaka samhitha ( a classic text of Ayurveda) states, "If a pregnant woman is taken care of as advised, she will give birth to a child who does not have any diseases – a healthy, physically strong, radiant and well nourished baby"
